UNB, Dhaka :The government on Tuesday approved the ‘Super Specialised Hospital of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU)’ project with an outlay of Tk 1366.34 crore, aiming to expand BSMMU’s scope of health services.The approval came from a meeting of the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (Ecnec) held at the NEC conference room with Ecnec Chairperson and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair.Briefing reporters after the meeting, Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal said a total of nine projects were approved yesterday involving Tk 4,858.77 crore.”Of the total project cost, Tk 2,477.49 crore will come from the national exchequer, while, Tk 173.93 crore from the organisations’ own funds and Tk 2,207.35 crore from project assistance,” he said.Of the approved nine projects, seven are new while two are revised ones.The BSMMU under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare will implement the project by December 2019. Out of the total cost for the project, Tk 145.07 crore will come from the state coffer, Tk 173.93 crore from the organisation’s own fund while Tk 1047.34 crore as project assistance from Korean Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF).
