Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) will confer honorary PhD degrees on seven professors on the occasion of its 3rd convocation.
BSMMU Vice-Chancellor (VC) Dr Kamrul Hasan Khan on Saturday disclosed the information at a press briefing at Shaheed Milton Hall of the University in city’s Shahbag area.
The awards recipients are – Prof Motiur Rahman, Prof Mahmud Hasan, Prof MQK Talukder, Prof Shamsuddin Ahmed, Prof AKM Nurul Anwar, Prof M Imdadul Huq and Prof Afzalun Nesa.
The 3rd convocation of BSMMU would be held on February 19 in where some 1,202 doctors are expected to be present to receive certificates. A total of six doctors from six different departments would receive gold medals, he said.
Chancellor of the BSMMU and President M Abdul Hamid is scheduled to attend the event as the chief guest, Dr Khan added.
BSMMU authority has formed 16 sub-committees comprising of 57 members to hold the convocation smoothly.
Students who passed MD/MS/MPhil/BSc in nursing/Diploma will receive certificates at the convocation.
Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim, Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid, Chairman of University Grants Commission Professor Abdul Mannan are expected to attend the event.
