BSMMU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Kanak Kanti Barua said that they started admitting Covid-19 patients to the Corona Centre from Saturday morning.
There are 250 beds at the ‘Cabin Block’ and 120 ones in the ‘Betar Bhaban’ designated for the treatment of corona-infected patients, he said.
The 120 beds in the Betar Bhaban were kept as isolation centre for the patients having moderate complications, Dr Kanak Kanti said.
“The patients who have serious complications like breathing problem will undergo treatment at the beds of Cabin Block,” the BSMMU VC said.
Out of 250 beds at the Cabin Block, 24 will be kept reserved for emergency patients, he said.
Besides, there are 15 beds with intensive care unit (ICU) facilities to deal with the very cortical patients, he added.
Professor Kanak Kanti Barua said all the Cabin Block beds have oxygen support from the central oxygen plant and other treatment facilities.
