Business Desk :
Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) has lowered the circuit breaker limit to 2 per cent from the existing 10 per cent due to the current downfall of the stock market. The new circuit breaker will be effective from tomorrow, said a press release.
Circuit breakers are temporary measures that halt trading to curb panic-selling on stock exchanges. Previously the lower circuit breaker was 10 per cent but with the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the share market has become unstable.
Meanwhile, the stock market index returned to the positive territory yesterday after losing 297 points in the previous four consecutive days when the index also hit its seven-month low.
