BSEC Chairman for fund raising through capital market

Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) Chairman M Khairul Hossain on Saturday urged the large companies to raise fund through the capital market for avoiding the complexities of bank loans.
“The merchant bankers should bring companies having good fundamentals for the sake of their own image,” he said.
The BSEC Chairman said this while addressing the inauguration ceremony of Bangladesh Merchant Bankers Association (BMBA) new office held at “Hotel 71” in the city’s Bijoynagar area. Khairul Hossain also unveiled the logo and launched the website of the BMBA, said a press release.
He said the country’s capital market can be a source of long-term financing for infrastructure and industrialization adding that there is a correlation between the development of the economy and capital market.
Khairul Hossain also assured that he would always extend all sorts of support to BMBA in future.
Lauding the activities of BMBA, he hoped that under the present leadership, it will give more and more efforts towards ensuring the well being of the capital market.
Presided over by BMBA President Mohammed Nasir Uddin Chowdhury, executive directors of BSEC, executive committee members of BMBA, top officials of both the stock exchanges, and general body members of BMBA attended the function. BMBA senior vice president Mohammed Ahsan Ullah gave the vote of thanks.
BMBA President Mohammed Nasir Uddin Chowdhury mentioned that demutualization of the capital market took place very smoothly within a short time along with the coordinated efforts from all stakeholders.
“Bangladesh’s capital market now stands on a strong platform and it only requires positive policy support with long-term vision,” he added.
