Business Desk :
The Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC) in collaboration with Bangla Academy will organise two-week-long Baishakhi Mela 1429 and the event will begin tomorrow.
The BSCIC said it will organise the show as part of its effort to support cottage, micro, small and medium enterprises and to promote and market products by organising nationwide fairs/buyer-seller conferences.
This year, the fair, initiated in the early 1980s, will have 100 stalls offering different traditional products, including handicrafts, hand-woven fabrics, jute-goods, Jamdani sari and bamboo made products. Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun is expected to be present as the chief guest at the inaugural programme. BSCIC is the prime mover organisation in Bangladesh to support industrialisation through creation of an entrepreneurial society. BSCIC was established in 1957.
