BSC to procure 16 ships with 6 mother vessels

Bangladesh Shipping Corporation (BSC) will procure 16 ocean going vessels including 2 mother bulk carriers, 10 lighter vessels, 2 mother tankers, 2 mother oil tankers by 2021 .
This was disclosed by the Managing Director of BSC Commodore Sumon Mahmud Sabbir while exchanging views with the journalists at 42nd general meeting of the corporation at its Head Office at Saltgola in the city this afternoon.
 BSC sources said, there are 8 vessels in the BSC fleet . Out of these includes MV Banglar Jayjatra, MV Banglar Smbridhi, Banglar Arjan, Banglar Agrajatra, Banglar Agradoot, Banglar Agragati have been procured from China in 2018. BSC Managing Director further said Govt will import coal from Rampal, Pyara, Matarbari coal fired power plant and for the interests of energy security and uninterupted supply of coal in these proposed coal plant, BSC has decided to procure 2 mother bulk carrier and 10 lighter vessels.
BSC in the last fiscal of 2018-19 , BSC earns Tk 230.7 crores and spends Tk 174.84 cr.
Besides , BSC is also proposed to procure 6 more LNG vessels by for carrying crude LNG from abroad.
Mentionable that the annual general meeting of the corporation is expected to be held on November 24 next at Chattogram Boat Club.
