New vessel named “MV Banglaer Joyjatra” made in China is set to add to the fleet of Bangladesh Shipping Corporation after 27 years. The first of the six Chinese vessels would be delivered by the supplier on July 5, an official release said yesterday.
Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan left Dhaka for China tonight to attend the launching ceremony of the vessel which was made by China National Machinery Import and Export Corporation there. The function for announcing the name of vessel will be held on April 24.
The minister will lead a five-member delegation, the press release added. He will return home on April 27.
Each of the vessels is of 39,000 deadweight tonnage (DWT) , BSC sources said.
