BSC proposes 10 pc dividend to shareholders

 Bangladesh Shipping Corporation(BSC) , a national shipping sector of Bangladesh proposed to give 10% dividend on profit for the financial year 2012-13 . BSC has gained profit of Tk.1.63 cr in that fiscal.
Managing Director of BSC Commodore Maksumul Kader disclosed this before a press conference held at BSC head office conference hall in Chittagong on Wednesday. On the eve of annual g eneral meeting of BSC on Saturday next, this press meet was arranged.
The press meet was told that the gross income of the BSC during the fiscal was Tk.328.59 cr and the expenditure was Tk.326.97 cr resulting net profit of Tk.1.63 cr. The press meet was told that the Board of Directors of the corporation has proposed to issue 10% cash dividend to each share holders of having each share of Tk.100. The Managing Director to a question of a journo told that BSC could not invest fund received from the investors for procuring vessels and that fund money lying in the bank and the dividend will be given from the Bank interests .
 In his written statement Managing Director said BSC will procure 6 vessels from abroad at a cost of Tk.1,439 cr with financial assistance of China. In this connection, a MOU was signed on April 30 last. Each vessels will have capacity of 40 thousands metric tons and these vessels will arrived in Bangladesh by middle of 2016.
The press meet was also told that during the period of 2012-13, BSC had 13 vessels and now stands at 8 following the sale of 5 old and scrap vessels during the current fiscal. Among others, Executive Director (Finance) Yasmeen Afsana, Director(Tech) Md. Sayeedullah, Secretary Golam Hossain, General Manager Nizamuddin were present in the press meet.
