A general hospital for the workers of shipbreaking workers named BSBA Hospital was inaugurated at Batiary Station Road under Sitakunda upazila in chittagong yesterday afternoon.
Local legislator Alhaj Didarul Alam inaugurated the hospital as chief guest.
Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Industry Ms. Parag, Joint Secretary Ms.Yasmin Sultana were present on the occasion as special guests.
Among others, BSBA member Jahangir Chowdhury, Alhaj Salauddin, Jahirul Hoque Rinku,Naim shah Imran, Master Kashem were present on the occasion duly presided by the President of Bangladesh Ship Breaking Association MA Taher.
The chief guest congratulated the BSBA for establishing such a hospital for the workers of the shipbreaking sector. Hospital sources said there are 25 physicians in the hospital including 4 fulltime specialist doctors for extending round the clock medicare facilties .
Other facilities of the hospital are – one fulltime ambulance service, 2 operation theatres , emergency outdoor, facilities of Xray, pathology, biochemistry, echocardiography and ultrasonography, ECG , etc. Besides, dental, eye and gyaney unit also functioning in the hospital, sources said.
