Internationally renowned nuclear scientist and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s husband Dr MA Wazed Miah had multi-dimensional human virtues and he worked selflessly with honesty and patriotism for the nation. Vice-chancellor of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRU) Prof Dr Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah said this on Saturday after placing wreaths at the grave of Dr Wazed in village Fatehpur Laldighee in Pirganj upazila to celebrate the 78th birthday of the nuclear scientist.
Later, leaders of Begum Rokeya University Teachers’ Association (BRUTA), BRU units of Pragotisheel Shikhkhok Samaj, Bangabandhu Parishad and other organisations placed wreaths at the grave there, reports BSS.
The Vice-chancellor along with other teachers and officials of BRU offered Fateha and munajats there seeking divine blessings for departed soul of the nuclear scientist and his other family members.
President of BRUTA Prof Dr Gazi Mazharul Anwar, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology Prof Dr Abu Kalam Md. Farid Ul Islam, Director of the Planning, Development and Works Division Prof Dr RM Hafizur Rahman, Director of the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell Prof Dr Md. Nazmul Haque, Associate Prof Md Ferdous Rahman, among others, were present.
The speakers discussed various aspects of life, works, ideal and human virtues of Dr Wazed terming him as a rarely talented and completely honest man with incomparable patriotism, dedication, affection and excellent human qualities.
Prof Kalimullah said, Dr Wazed was a person free from greed and he always dreamt for building an economically and technologically developed Sonar Bangla as dreamt by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
“The nation will always remember contributions of Dr Wazed,” he said suggesting the young generations to follow the patriotic zeal and honesty of Dr Wazed in building a technologically and economically developed Bangladesh.
