Secretary of the Ministry of Education Md. Abu Bakar Siddique has said that there is no alternative to quality and practical education in the overall development of the country. It will be easy for the country to achieve the desired progress if it can build a knowledge-based society through the spread of effective and up-to-date education. He said this while inaugurating the newly constructed examination hall at Begum Rokeya University (BRU) in Rangpur on Sunday.

Asib Ahsan, Proctor of the University, Student Adviser, Deans of different faculties, Directors of different departments, teachers-students and officers-staff were present.
During his visit to BRU, Secretary of the Ministry of Education Md. Abu Bakar Siddique paid homage to the mural of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Later, Education Secretary Md. Abu Bakar Siddique exchanged views with those concerned with the planning and development of the university in the meeting room of the administrative building. At this time, the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Md. Hasibur Rashid presented various development work plans for the education system and physical infrastructure of the university.
Noting the need for a long-term plan for any development work, Education Secretary Begum Rokeya called for a 50-year plan for the construction of physical infrastructure at the university.
