After five years of construction work, the Central Cafeteria of Begum Rokeya University (BRU), Rangpur has officially opened been. Dr Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah, BTFO, Vice Chancellor of the University inaugurated it officially early on Wednesday.
Dr Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah, BTFO, said, although the cafeteria building has been completed long ago, it has not been opened for unknown reasons.
But after joining as a VC, I formed a committee to launch it as a demand for the students. The committee, after completing all official procedures, called the tender, but nobody expressed interest in it. For this reason tender has been recalled. But it was announced that the cafeteria will be opened on November 1, 2017, for that reason the university opened it today of its own management in the brief range, he added.
Dr Gazi Mazharul Anwar, director of cafeteria, thanked, the present administration for opening the most expected cafeteria of all teachers and students and employees. And said, it has not yet been able to get any suitable party for lease cafeteria, so the university launched it of its own management.
In this regard, we will have to comply with certain problems. I wish everyone’s cooperation in this regard, he added. Tabiur Rahman Prodhan, assistant director of public relations and information division, presented the inauguration ceremony.
Besides, Dr Sarifa Salowa Dina, convener of the cafeteria launched committee, Ferdows Rahman, Dean of the Business Faculty, Dr Parimol Chandra Barman, Dean of the Arts Faculty, Ibrahim Kabir, Register of the University, heads of the different departments, Abu Munnaf Al Kibria Tushar, chairman of BSL, Kamrul Hasan Nobel Sheikh, General Secretary of BSL of the university, and the students of different departments were present there.
However, since the establishment of the university in the permanent campus in 2011, the teachers and students of the university and the students of various organizations were campaigning to launch the cafeteria.
The Cafeteria building work had been ended in 2013 but the administration of BRU had not taken any proper step before. In the past, two committees were formed to launch cafeteria but there was no progress.
