Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) has taken some significant steps for training the transport labourers as drivers.
As such, the BRTC gas applied to Planning Commission asking for extra fund for 2018-19 fiscal year.
The amount will be Tk 12.6 crore for three Training Institutes and ‘Modernization and Reinforcement of 17 Training Centers’ in order to train drivers.
It is noted that the government has given much emphasis on this project in the wake of road accidents in different areas of the country.
One lakh skilled drivers will be built-up.
We shall implement this project to realize this goal. The total expenditure of the project is Tk 15 crore 39 lakh. But we haven’t got anything yet. How would we function without fund? For this reason, we have asked for allocation on an emergency basis,” said Abu Bakar Siddique, BRTC manager (planning).
The BRTC, Bureau of Manpower Employment and Training (BMET) and the Ministry of Finance’s Skills for Employment Investment Program (SEIP) will jointly implement the project.
Vehicles will be bought for training. BMET will train 32 thousand while the rest 32 thousand will be trained under private institutions.
