Chattogram Bureau :
BRTC bus service is going to start in Chattogram- Boalkhali route. Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader is expected to l inaugurate the bus service through video conference tomorrow (March 2).
The service is going to be launched again after two decades on the initiative of the local legislator Moslem Uddin Ahmed, to alleviate the suffering of the people of Boalkhali Upazila. Once upon a time there was a bus service on this road but it was stopped. As a result, CNG-powered autorickshaws and tempos became the means of transportation in the city.
The passengers were being harassed by the extra fare and harassment. It is learned that BRTC bus service will travel from Bahaddarhat in the city to Howla DC road in Boalkhali upazila to the bank of Das Dighi in Kanungopara.
A trial has been given to the drivers from Bahaddarhat to Oli Bakery junction in Boalkhali on February 24 last. Initially 4 BRTC buses will run on this road. Due to Howla DC road repair work, buses will run from Bahaddarhat to Oli Bakery for the time being.
Once the road repair work is completed, the buses will travel to Dasher Dighi via Kanungopara. Chittagong BRTC Bus Depot Manager Md. Abdul Latif said that although 4 buses were supposed to be unloaded on the road, the work will be carried out with 3 buses as there is work left for one vehicle.
Another bus will be added later. Depending on the number of passengers, more buses may be added gradually.
