BRTA jails 12 drivers, fines Tk 1.58 lakh

The mobile courts of Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) jailed 12 drivers for driving without licence, and five brokers in the capital yesterday.
The courts at the same time has realized Tk 1.58 lakh and filed 102 cases for breach of traffic rules.
On Monday, the four Executive Magistrates of the BRTA operated four mobile courts. Magistrate Sujit Hawlader at Dholaipar filed 30 cases and realised Tk 79,200 as fines. He jailed seven drivers for different terms for driving without licence.
Executive Magistrate Muhammad Abdus Salam in the Agargaon area, filed 21 cases and realised Tk 20,800 as fines. He also jailed two brokers for one month each.
Executive Magistrate Md Munibur Rahman filed 29 cases and realised Tk 37,000 as fines in the Dhaka Airport area. He jailed a driver and three brokers for one month each.
At Signboard on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway, Executive Magistrate Zohora Khatun filed 22 cases and realised Tk 21,000 as fines. She jailed three drivers for 15 days each for driving without licence.
