BRP ultimatum against Saif Power ends

The ultimatum so declared by the Bandar Rakkha Parishad to Chittagong Port Authority against the berth operator – Saif Power Tech ended yesterday.
 President of Chittagong City Awami League , former city Mayor and convenorof Bandar Rakkha Parishad (BRP) ABM Mohiuiddin Chowdhury gave one month’s ultimatum to CPA demanding black listing the illegally appointed berth operator Saif Power for NCT terminal on September 10 last at a public meeting held at Laldighi Maidan in the city .
 With this continuation , a fresh schedule of movement is expected but BRP sources said, a discussion with the concerned minister may be taken place..
While contacted BRP sources said BRP gave ultimatum to CPA to stop irregularities and corruptions in port and to suspend the black listed operator Saif Power but CPA yet to take any steps to our ultimatum. So we will enforce severe movement against the port, he added.
But the member secretary of BRP Advocate Mahfuzur Rahman did not disclose the types of movement in next phase which will be finalised after arrival of the Convenor from Saudi Arabia. Mentionable that the movement against the Saif Power began two months before .
 First and second phase movement already passed off including wearing of black badge and hunger strike and public meeting at Laldighi.
 Mentionable that Mohiuddin Chowdhury left for Saudi Arabia to perform holy Hajj on next day of the public meeting held on Sept 10 last and he is expected to back Bangladesh very shortly.
In the meantime, ports and shipping minister criticised the role of Mohiuddin Chowdhury against the Chittagong Port at a meeting of the Parliamentary Standing committee on Ports & Shipping held last month.
The members of the parliamentary committee requested the convenor of the BRP to sit together for mitigating the prevailing problems regarding Saif Power Tech , sources said.
