Brothers Union Club and Muktijoddha Sangsad Krira Chakra split points when their match ended in a 1-1 goal tame draw in the second phase of the Nitol- Tata Bangladesh Premier Football League held on Sunday at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in the city.
In the day’s match, Augustine Walson opened an account for Brothers Union early in the 6th minute after Kester Akon set him free with a through from the midfield and Walson hit the back of the net with an angular shot (1-0).
Brothers hit back with a number of attacks and in the 16th minute Nkwocha Kingsley failed to head the ball in the open net on a cross of M Biplob.
However, Sunday Chizoba restored the parity for Muktijoddha in the 30th minute after Brothers defender Yusuf Issah brought Sunday down inside the danger zone and Sunday made no mistake to convert the spot kick (1-1).
In the 36th minute Sunday again made his way through the Brothers defence and fierce drive was punched for a corner by Brothers custodian Sobuj Das Roghu.
After the lemon break, both the teams took a defensive approach concentrating upon not conceding more and most of the time the ball was struck in the midfield.
The freedom fighters were reduced to ten men in the 81st minute when Cameroonian defender Gerard Ledoux was shown the second yellow card for his hard tackle on Augustine Walson.
After the day’s feat, Brothers Union have 26 points from 16 matches while Muktijoddha have 22 from 15 matches.
