Brothers Union Club registered a facile 3-1 goals victory over Farashganj SC in the 2nd leg match of the Manyavar Bangladesh Premier Football League at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Monday.
In the day’s other league match, Dhaka Abahani Limited played to a 1-1 draw with Chittagong Abahani Ltd at the MA Aziz Stadium in the port city of Chittagong.
After the day’s matches, Both Dhaka Abahani and Brothers Union bagged 24 points from 13 matches, but Dhaka Abahani Ltd were in the 3rd slot in the league table by virtue of better goal difference then that of Brothers Union, which ranked 4th.
Chittagong Abahani were in the 10th slot securing seven points from 13 encounters while Farashganj SC remained at bottom in the eleven-team fray securing 4 points from 12 matches.
At Bangabandhu National Stadium, Kester Akon put Brothers Union ahead in the 6th minute. Haitian forward Augustin Walson cutback from left and Adams Jankasa miscued the shot that fell in front of Nigerian forward Kester, who placed the ball into the net (1-0)
Brothers doubled the margin in the 11th minute by a suicidal goal when Farashagnj defender Mostafizur Rahman Saikat sent the ball to his own net while he trying to foil an attempt of Haitian forward Walson (2-0).
Farashganj SC came back to the match in the 23rd minute from a penalty. Brothers defender Rashed Alam Moni brought down Farashganj Nigerian midfielder Uche Felix in the danger zone and referee blew whistle for a penalty. Nigerian forward Akinyele Peter converted the spot kick correctly (2-1)
Augustin Walson confirmed the Brothers victory scoring one more goal in the injury time of first half. Taking a ball from the Haitian forward, Walson entered the box and placed the ball home after dodging past rushing Farashganj goalie Sujan Chowdhury (3-1).
Brothers Union were reduced to 10 men in the 55th minute as their forward Augustin Walson was sent off after receiving direct red card.
Meanwhile, Dhaka Abahani Limited were forced to play 1-1 draw against Chittagong Abahani Limited at the MA Aziz Stadium in Chittagong on Monday.
Cameroonian forward Yoko Samnick put Chittagong Abahani ahead
in the 40th while Nigerian forward Sunday Chizoba restored the parity for Dhaka Abahani in the 52nd minute from a penalty.
In the first leg, Dhaka Abahani beat Ctg Abahani by 2-0 goals.
