Brother given death; mother, sister life term in Ctg

A court has sentenced a brother to death and his mother and sister to life imprisonment for strangling an expatriate named Abdus Salam. In the same verdict, the court fined the accused Tk 20,000 and sentenced them to one more year imprisonment for non-payment. Additional District Public Prosecutor Lokman Hossain Chowdhury told media that the verdict was handed down by Chattogram Fifth Additional District and Sessions Judge Ashok Kumar Dutt on Thursday.
The victim was identified as Abdus Salam, son of Abdur Razzak of Sreepur area in Boalkhali upazila. The accused Azam was sentenced to death. Mother Farida Begum and sister Kamrun Nahar were sentenced to life imprisonment. Advocate Lokman Hossain Chowdhury said the court had sentenced his brother to death for killing an expatriate b rother named Abdus Salam in Sreepur area of Boalkhali upazila in 2009. In the same verdict, the court sentenced Abdus Salam’s mother and sister to life imprisonment. He said quarrels over property and family matters
