A group of women brought out a procession with brooms against a candidate of the Awami League on Friday in Kachua Upazila of Chandpur district.
Our local correspondent reports that the protesters also burned an effigy of Md Golam Hossain, the nominee, who is a former chairman of National Board of Revenue.
Ruling Awami League permitted two candidates to file nomination for Chandpur-1 Constituency, which is constituted with the Kachua Upazila.
The other candidate of Awami League in this
Constituency is Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir, an incumbent lawmaker and former Home Minister of the previous Awami League government.
The protesting women said, Golam Hossain has no connection with the party activities in Kachua. And hence, they will not accept anyone except MP Alamgir.
It is to be noted, that Chandpur-1 has 265,450 voters, including 131665 females.
