British man jailed for encouraging acts of terrorism

A man from south of London has been jailed for posting several messages on social media encouraging people to commit acts of terrorism in Bangladesh, following an investigation by the Metropolitan’s Counter Terrorism Command, reports Asian Express.
Munna Hamza, 50, was sentenced to a total of three years’ imprisonment on Friday after being convicted of three counts of encouraging terrorism contrary to the
 Terrorism Act 2006 at Woolwich Crown Court. He will have to spend an additional year on licence when he is released.
Hamza was arrested by the Counter Terrorism Command after his social media messages encouraging acts of terrorism against Bangladesh government were reported to police in 2018. The officers seized his computer, phones and memory sticks for forensic examination.
