Outgoing British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Robert Gibson made a farewell call on President Abdul Hamid at Bangabhaban on Tuesday.
During the meeting, the President lauded the envoy for his role in strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries and hoped that the ties will get stronger in the days to come. President’s press secretary Joynal Abedin briefed reporters after the meeting.
Abdul Hamid expressed gratitude to the UK government, its people and media for their cooperation during country’s Liberation War in 1971. Robert Gibson highly praised the country’s youngsters saying they are innovative, intelligent and the country will march forward through them.
He praised the Bangladesh government for honoring its foreign friends who stood beside Bangladesh during its War of Liberation. The British envoy expressed gratitude to the President for cooperation in discharging his assignment in Bangladesh. Secretaries concerned to the President Office were present.
