A five-member delegation from British Council Bangladesh led by its Deputy Director Matt Pusey held a meeting with UGC Chairman Prof Abdul Mannan at the latter’s office on Tuesday.
UGC Member Prof Dr Abul Hashem and Additional Director, International Cooperation and Collaboration (ICC) Dr Md. Fakhrul Islam were present during the meeting. Other members of the delegation included Ismail Badad, Regional Manager for Higher Education and Further Education, BC, Touhidur Rahman, Head of IHE, BC, Hank Wiliams, UK Consultant and Mark Goodwin, UK Consultant and Faculty from Leicester University.
The delegation discussed on various issues of quality assurance, centre of excellence, governance and quality framework in the universities of Bangladesh.
British Council held the meeting with the UGC as part of a three daylong final workshop on ‘CETL’ (Centre of Excellence in Teaching and Learning) scheduled to be held on 29-31 July 2015 at UGC auditorium. Directors and Deputy Directors of Centre of Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CELT) of Dhaka, Rajshahi, Chittagong, Bangladesh Agricultral, Jahangirnagar, Khulna and BRAC Universities will take part in the workshop.
