Special security measures taken: Brisk preparations for Durga Puja in dists

A saying for Hindu community goes, “13 festival in 12 months.” For Hindu devotees, autumn is is a season of festival when goddess Durga visits her father’s resident on earth from heaven.
The hindu community arranges their biggest celebration of devotion to welcome and celebrate her staying by observing Durga puja, which begins on October 7 this year.
For upcoming Durga puja the Idol makers (artisans) have been passing busy time in making clay idols ahead of “Durga” in Bogra district.
A total number of 616 Durga puja synagogues were establishe in 12 upazilas of the district in this year. In the wake of recent terrorist attacks in the country, law enforcers and hindu community people are planning to ensure tighe security measures before and during the Durga puja.
According to Puja Udjapan Parishad, around 99 mandaps have been set up in sadar upazila, 73 in Sherpur upazila, 5 in Dhunata upazila, 50 in Shahajahnpur upazila, 68 in Gabtoli upazila, 39 Sonatola upazila, 38 Dupchachia upazila, 48 in Nandrigram upazila and 25 in Sariakandi upazila of the district.
For observing the festival smoothly a meeting is held at the Conference hall of the District Superintended of Police on Sunday (September 25).
The Supper intendent of Police (Sp) Md. Assaduzzaman , Additional Superintendent of Police Arifur Rahman Mondal, Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police (Asp) Gaziur Rahman, Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police(ASP) Moshiur Rahman, Zila Puja Udjapon Parishad President Dilip Kumar Deb, General secretary Sagar Kumar Roy, the former President Amrito Lal Saha, the police officer in charge and all the president and General secretary of Upazila Puja Udjapan Parishad were present in this meeting.
Sylhet correspondent adds: Preparations for celebrating Durga Puja, the five-day greatest religious festival of the Hindu community, are nearing completion in all the Thirteen upazilas of the Sylhet district.
The festival will start on October 7 and conclude on October 11 through the immersion of the idols on the day of Bijoya Dashami, Puja Udjapon Committee sources said.
District Puja Udjapon Committee Secretary Rojot Kanti gupto said almost 90 percent work on Durga Puja idols has already been completed.
District administration and Puja Udjapon Committee sources said the puja will be held at 45 mandaps in Sylhet City,49 in Sadar, 23 in Dakshin Surma,64 in Gulapgang,30 in Balagong,34 in Khanaighat,20 in Jointa,38 in Guainghat,27 in Companigang,24 in Bishanath,32 in Osmaninagar,37in Fenchugang,51 in Bianibazar,93in Jokigang uazilas under the district this year.

BSS from Faridpur adds: A view exchange meeting held on the security measures of five day long Durga Puja festival at local police line auditorium yesterday.
Police Super Md. Jamil Hassan attended the meeting as the chief guest while it was chaired by Additional police super Md. Kamruzzaman Russel.
Police Super urged upon all concerned to cooperate with law enforcing agencies during the festival of the Hindu community. Jamil Hassan stressed the need for formation of ‘mondop’ committees with police, Ansars and volunteers. He urged the organizers of puja mondops to immerse their idols within 9 pm on Dashami.
Faridpur Sadar upazilla chairman Kh. Mohtesham Hossain Babor urged upon all to help the HIndu community in celebrating the puja with festivities.
He informed the puja udjapaon committee leaders that Awami league and its front organizations’ leaders and workers are always by their side to help them when necessity arises.
He said traditionally this district is very much peaceful and so far no untoward incidents occurred during Durga Puja festivals.
