Brisk preparations are afoot in Bagerhat district town and its all the nine Upazilas to celebrate 5-day long Durga Puja, the biggest and the most important religious festival of the Bengali Hindu community in a befitting manner and traditional way.
The ceremony will commence on Friday. According to the Bagerhat district Puja Udjapan committee, as many as 583 Puja mandaps are going to be installed throughout the district.
This year the highest number of Puja Mandaps (141 in number) is being erected in Chitalmari Upzila in the district while the biggest Puja Mandap in the country is being erected at Shikdarbari in the village Hakimpur under Bagerhat Sadar Upazila. Images of as many as 601 deities are being installed on the Mandap, according Hindu mythology. A good number of visitors are visiting this biggest Puja Mandap every day.
Narsingdi Correspondent says: Adequate preparations have taken to celebrate Durga Puja, the greatest religions festival of the Hindu community in Narsingdi a befitting manner.
The work on erection of Puja mondaps and images of the goddess Durga is going on in full swing in the district.
According to the official ocncerned Durga Puja will be held in 311 mondaps in the distrct in cluding 28 in the district town this year.
At total of 94 Mandops are in Sadar Upazila, 19 in Belabo, 44 n Polash, 65 in Shibpur, 51 in Raipura, 38 in Monohardi upazilas of the district.
Gouripur Correspondent reports: Preparations for Durga Puja continues in full swing in Gouripur Upazila of Mymensingh district where all-time record number idols of Goddess Durga are being erected this year.
.At least ten thousand Hindu community people of all ages are rushing to the markets and purchasing Puja clothes to celebrate their greatest religious festival with great enthusiasm, religious fervor and gaiety. The artisans are passing their busiest time at this peak hour to give finishing touches to idols of Goddess Durga with their artistic creativity and colors.
The concerned upzila administration and Puja Udjapan Parishad Committee of Gouripur Upazila unit sources said nearly 46 puja mandaps are being set up this year in Gouripur upzila and the government is going to have allocated rice distribution for each Puza mandap in a few days.
Secretary of Puja Udjapan Parishad, Shamal Chandra Kar said to the New Nation, five-day festival will begin from October 8 next and ends on October 12 when the Hindu communities celebrate Bijoya Dashami through the immersion of idols of Goddess Durga with festivity and religious fervor.
Dilip Kumar Das, Secretary of Baluaghat Puja Mondir, said to the New Nation that they are facing many problems this year for preparation of Durga Puja lack of sufficient money as most of the Hindu people of this area are day labourers, barbers, and low classes of Hindu community. He also added that the Government allocated 500 kg of rice distribution for the Puja mandap last year. This allocation cannot fulfill them properly. They need more specialaids from others as well as the Government
The concerned authorities have given assurances of smooth supply of electricity to all Puja mandaps at nights to enable the Hindu devotees offering their puja, archanas, kirtons and other religious rituals smoothly.
