UNB, Dhaka :
Observing that splitting a party is not the government’s duty or objective, Information Minister Hasanul Haque Inu on Tuesday said bringing BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia to justice does not mean breaking BNP.
“The present government believes in multiparty democracy. It’s not the government’s duty, motive or objective to split any party,” he said.
The Information Minister was addressing a function marking the distribution of ‘Best Journalist Awards-2014’ organised by Bangladesh Cable TV Viewers Forum at Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU).
Noting that no party can be a safe haven for arson
terrorists, war criminals and criminals, Inu said if any member of a party gets involved in any criminal activities, it is the government’s responsibility to bring them to justice. “If the government brings Khaleda Zia to justice for her involvement in arson and petrol terrorism, it doesn’t mean that it’s trying to split BNP,” he said.
