Narayanganj City Corporation Mayor Selina Hayat Ivy on Monday alleged that godfathers were behind the murders of seven persons in the city. She told this to reporters after giving her deposition to an enquiry committee, formed to investigate the seven-murder case, in the Ministry of Public Administration in the Secretariat in Dhaka this morning. The seven-member probe body was formed to investigate the gruesome murder case of Narayanganj following a High Court order. The committee, led by Shahjahan Ali Mollah, Additional Secretary of Ministry of Public Administration, quizzed the NCC Mayor in his office in the Secretariat and recorded her deposition.”Godfathers of Narayanganj are behind the murders of the seven persons. People of the country know who are the godfathers of Narayanganj,” she said. She, however, added that she did not mention the name of Osman family during the interrogation. Ivy said that the prime accused Nur Hossain should be brought back home from India to know the actual facts of the seven-murder. Then the names of the masterminds and the culprits will be disclosed, she observed. The NCC Mayor said there is no security of the people in Narayanganj. Mentioning the killing of Taki, Chanchan and BCL worker Mitu, she said that she also feels insecurity, as trial of any of them has not been held till now. When asked about the trial of the seven-murder case, she said that the government arrested three officers of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in connection with the murder case. So the government can disclose the mystery of the murder and hold the trail if it is cordial to do it. About the interrogation, Ivy said, “The probe body wanted to know from me about Nur Hossain and slain Nazrul Islam as they were councilors of the Narayanganj City Corporation. I told them how much I know about them.” Replying to a question from reporters, she said that she only replied to what the probe body wanted to know from her. In response to another question about Shamim Osman’s claim that her relatives were involved in the killing, she said, “Bring us to the trial process even if my offspring or I am related with the killings. I have no objection.”The probe body chief, Shahjahan Ali Mollah, told reporters that they have recorded the deposition of the NCC Mayor about the seven-murder. They will also quiz local MP of Narayanganj Shamim Osman today (Tuesday) at the same place, he said. He said the interrogation of Selina Hayat Ivy was fruitful.
