Some parts of the country were blessed with sudden shower on Friday afternoon, bringing welcome relief from sweeping heat wave for the last few days. The city dwellers also experienced gusty winds in the afternoon. The temperature dropped in the city after hitting a five-decade high record.
The reports of rainfall were received from Sylhet, Moulvibazar, Habiganj,
Kishoreganj, Narayanganj, Comilla and Mymensingh. The duration of the rainfall was, however, short.
Abul Kalam Mollik, Forecast Officer of the Met Office, said there has been rain in some places. The temperature will fall further. He also said that the fall in temperature had been caused by rising humidity.
According to the Met Office, rain and thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind is like to occur at one or two places over Chittagong, Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal and Sylhet divisions with scattered hails, while most areas may remain mainly dry with temporary cloudy sky elsewhere in the country today (Saturday). Weather may improve in Dhaka, Rajshahi, Rangpur, Khulna and Barisal divisions and the regions of Rangamati, Comilla, Chandpur and Feni in the coming days. The country’s highest temperature 42.0 degree Celsius was recorded on Friday in Chuadnaga and lowest 22.0 degrees in Rangpur. The maximum temperature in the city on the day was 39 degrees Celsius.
