At least seven people including a just-wed bride drowned in a trawler capsize in the River Meghna in Hatia upazila of Noakhali on Tuesday.
River police members recovered the bodies in the afternoon. The identities of the deceased except bride Taslima could not be known immediately.
Police and local sources said a mechanised boat, carrying 70/80 passengers, sailed for Monpura of Bhola from Chandnighat of Hatiya in the afternoon.
The trawler was caught by strong current and sank in Kyaringchar area soon after sailing said witnesses.
Hatiya police inspector (investigation) Kanchan Kanti Das and Morshed bazar investigation centre in-charge Abdul Halim informed many passengers managed to swim ashore.
But, the actual number of missing passengers could not be known yet, they added.
