A gang of armed dacoits attacked a house at Kushangal village under Nalcity upazila of Jhalakathi on Saturday night, injuring nine persons.
The injured persons were admitted to Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital.
Abul Khair, Officer-in-Charge of Nalcity Police Station, quoting injured persons, said a gang of 20 to 30 masked armed dacoits attacked the house of Malek Haoladar at Kushangal village at about 3:00 in the night.
The residents of the house were preparing food on Saturday night for a marriage reception scheduled to be held on Sunday noon.
The dacoits made the residents and guests hostage and looted 20 tola gold ornaments, cash money Tk 80 Thousand and other valuables worth Tk 13 lakhs.
Among the nine injured, Akkas Molla, 45, Zakir Hawladar, 30, Jalil Molla, 38, Hassan Haoladar, 14, Hanif Hawladar, 46, Kawsar Haoladar, 28, received gun shots while Sabuj Haoladar, 26, (bridegroom), Mijanur Rahman, 35, and Shahin, generator operator were injured by beating.
Right injured persons were admitted to Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital, said Dr. Habibur Rahman, emergency medical officer of the hospital.
Police are trying to nab the miscreants. A case is under process for filing, said Nalcity OC Abdul Khair.
