Joynal Abedin Khan :Detective Branch (DB) of Police detained two BRAC Bank Limited officials from a branch of Rajshahi city on Thursday night in connection with the murder of Japanese national Kunio Hoshi.The detained persons have been identified as Md Sultan Nahid, Sales and Service Officer and HM Shahriar, Credit Card Officer of the bank. Both of them are inhabitants of Sagarpara area of Rajshahi city, said Azhar Ali, Deputy Inspector of DB Rajshahi Mertopolitan Police (RMP).”Four employees of BRAC Bank, Rajshahi Branch were called to the police station from their office on Thursday. After primary interrogation, two officers were freed while the other two were detained,” the police official said. However, Nahid and Shahriar were taken to Rangpur from Rajshahi on Friday morning for further interrogation, he said.Earlier, on Saturday, members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and police arrested another two people namely Rashedun Nabi Biplab and Humayun Kabir Hira from Rangpur on charge of the same issue.Japanese citizen Hoshi Kunio, 55, was shot to death by unknown miscreants at Alutari in Kaunia upazila in Rangpur on October 3.However, the two detainees were taken to Kaunia Police Station under Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RMP) on Friday morning after overnight interrogation, said Sushanto Chandra Roy, Assistant Commissioner of detective police of RMP.”The arrested persons have kept in Police custody in Rangpur for further interrogation,” he said.Meanwhile, Chief of Public Relation Department (PRD) of BRAC Bank, Jara Jabin Mahbub confirmed the arrest of the BRAC Bank officials. Meanwhile, no decision has been taken till filling this report over the funeral of Hoshi Kunio although seven days have been passed after the murder, said Joynal Abedin, Additional Superintendent of Police in Rangpur district.Replying to a query, he said the police and local administration have been trying to reach to a decision over the funeral. According to him, the Japanese Embassy has not yet announced what it intends to do about the remains of the Japanese national which put the administration in an embarrassing situation over the burial issue of the Japanese citized.Earlier, a four-member Japanese investigative team have visited the morgue and examined the body for three hours, but they left the morgue without taking the body or giving any decision.Another report adds from Pabna: A team of Rangpur police arrested another person from Pabna on Friday afternoon in connection with the murder case of Japanese national Hoshi Kunio. The arrestee has been identified as Sweet, 40, son of Golam Rahman, resident of Old Yatim Khana area at Shalgaria in Pabna. He is also cousin brother of Humayun Kabir Heera, who was business partner of slain Japanese national Hoshio Kunio. Assistant Superintendent of Police in Pabna Liton Kumar Saha said: “Sweet is an auto-rickshaw driver in profession. He was taken to Rangpur for interrogation.”
