Several accounts held with the BRAC Bank have been hacked. Money has been transferred from the accounts of several people following the hacking, Bangladesh Bank has revealed.
A report of the central bank’s Financial Integrity and Customer Services Department (FICSD) says around Tk 2 million was transferred from at least 30 accounts of BRAC Bank into other accounts.
Three clients had initially lodged complaints about their missing funds.
Investigation revealed that money had been taken
out from another 30 to 35 accounts. These accounts had been hacked and money was transferred between Oct and Nov last year.
However, holders of the accounts to which the money was transferred claimed to be ‘fully unaware’ of the transaction.
