Bangladesh Railway is going to resume services of 38 pairs of intercity and 19 pairs of mail and commuter trains from July 15, said officials.
It was disclosed by Railways Minister Nurul Islam Sujon while talking to newsmen at Rail Bhaban in the capital on Tuesday afternoon.
The minister said the trains will run keeping a seat vacant. Fifty percent of the total seats of each train will be sold out. All tickets will be sold online. Counters will remain closed.
These trains will run till July 22 by taking half of the passengers against the capacity of each train. The Railways Minister said Suborno Express, Mohanagar Godhuli, and Mohanagar Pravati will run from Dhaka to Chattogram; Joyantika Expresss and Upaban Express from Dhaka to Sylhet; Padma Express and Banalata Express from Dhaka to Rajshahi; and Chitra Express and Sundarban Express from Dhaka to Khulna.
The Cabinet Division on Tuesday announced that imposed strict lockdown restrictions will be relaxed for a week from the midnight of July 14 to 6:00am on July 23.
