BPSC member Foni Bhushan dies

Member of Bangladesh Public Service Commission (BPSC) Foni Bhushan Chowdhury died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Saturday afternoon. He was 62.
Foni Bhushan Chowdhury, a former secretary of the Bangladesh government, who had been suffering from cancer, breathed his last at DMCH around 5:30pm. The body of Foni Bhushan, also former police coordinator (a rank equivalent to IGP’s), has been kept at Dhakeshwari National Temple at 10:00am on Sunday for the people to pay their last respects, from where it will be taken to Rajarbagh Police Line at 12noon.
His body will also be kept at BPSC for public viewing in the afternoon.
Later it will be taken to his village home in Chhatak upazila of Sylhet where he would be cremated on the following day. Foni Bhushan Chowdhury who joined in civil service in 1981 served as assistant secretary at different ministries.
He joined Bangladesh Police as a BCS cadre in 1982 and was appointed assistant superintendent of police in 1988.
Later, he joined as police coordinator at the Home Ministry in 2010 and joined as secretary at the Textiles and Jute Ministry in 2013. He went on retirement on November 10, 2014 and joined as BPSC member on November 24, 2014.
Inspector General of Police AKM Shahidul Haque expressed his deep shock at the death of Foni Bhushan. In a condolence message, he said the country has lost a skilled official with his death.
The IGP conveyed his deep sympathy to the bereaved family members and prayed for salvation of the departed soul.
