Bangladesh Paint Manufacturer’s Association (BPMA) on Thursday demanded a separate zone for chemical factories.
A 12-member delegation of the association made the demand in a meeting with Industries Secretary Md Abdul Halim at the Industries Ministry in the city, according to a press release.
BPMA President Rupali Haque Chowdhury led the delegation.
Abdul Halim said the government is establishing different industrial cities and industrial pallis (village) for same type of factories in a place.
He suggested the BPMA leaders to talk to Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industry Corporation (BSCIC) for setting up a separate zone for chemical factories.
The secretary urged the association to arrange a workshop to inform all paint manufacturers about the license for the production.
Rupali Chowdhury said all members of the association will have to be aware for producing the standard paint as well as maintaining the environmental balance. A total of 70 thousand people are involved with the chemical industry, she informed.
Among others, Director of the Bangladesh Standard and Testing Institute (BSTI) Md Muazzem Hossain, Additional Secretary of the Industries Ministry Sultan Mahmud and Joint Secretary Mohammad Selim Uddin were present.
