Bangladesh power Development Board (BPDB) launched vending system for pre-paid consumers in three banks in the district on Wednesday.BPDB, Jamalpur office sources said pre-paid consumers can avail the vending system from Social Islami Bank, Dutch Bangla Bank and National Bank in the town.
Executive Engineer, BPDB, Jamalpur, Md Obaidul Islam Selim said earlier pre-paid consumers could avail the vending system only from the BPDB office which was causing sufferings for consumers.
He said to ease the suffering of consumers, the vending system was introduced in the three private banks.
He said 33,500 consumers of the Jamalpur BPDB came under the prepaid network out of 50,000 consumers.
Sales and Distribution Division of BPDB will set up over 50,000 pre-paid electric meters in the district.
The BPDB sources said pre-paid meter will be set up all consumers’ residences and organisations in phases.
The Executive Engineer said with the setting up the pre-paid meter consumers will get rid from inflated bills.
