BPC workshop on hygiene at DIU

Ensuring Hygiene of Iftar items, cooked by the food vendors on the street in the capital Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation (BPC) organized a workshop on “Hygienic Food, Healthy People” at Daffodil International University (DIU) on Thursday as its part of its eight-day campaign.
Dr Aparup Chowdhury, Chairman, BPC was present as the chief guest in the workshop. Prof Mohemmed Ahsan Ullah, Head, Department of Tourism and Hotel Management of IBAIS University, Mahbub Parvez, Head, Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management, Dr Belal Ahmed, Associate Professor, Department of Nutrition and Food Engineering of DIU and Md. Mosabber Hossain Badhon, Manager, Product Development, BRAC Chicken Entreprise were present as the special guests.
Faisal Shah, General Manager (Commercial) of BPC presided over the workshop. Parvez A Chowdhury, Manager (Marketing) of BPC conducted the workshop while Sharmin Afroz, Head, Bakery and Pastry department of NHTTI presented the keynote presentation at the workshop. BPC has conducted the campaign with the support of BRAC Chicken Enterprise and Tourism and Hospitality Management of Daffodil International University.
Addressing as the chief guest Aparup Chowdhury said, we have launched the campaign as lots of Dhaka city dwellers used to and love to buy their from street small vendors but the food that are consumed after a long fasting are not usually that hygienic. As we account our tempting iftar as product of culinary tourism we should ensure hygiene of food. He also said, this type of awareness campaign will be extended and conducted even after Ramadan, outside the Dhaka city where Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation (BPC) facilities are available with the help of NGO.
He also said, BPC has already introduced online reservation system, life-long credit card with 25 per cent discount facilities, Online Application System at NHTTI. As a part of government’s digitalization e-tendering system is also going to be introduced very soon.
