After winning the match against Zimbabwe, Bangladesh skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza on Tuesday said his boys showed professionalism that resulted victory against Zimbabwe.
He was speaking at a post match presentation ceremony at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium at Mirpur on Tuesday.
Bangladesh beat Zimbabwe by 91 runs in the fifth match of the tournament.
Mashrafe said: “When we came out to bowl, we wanted professionalism from the boys, and they all turned up. The way the boys are going, it’s very good. It’s important to keep momentum – hopefully we keep it for the rest of the tournament.”
“We thought it’d be 280-300 surface at the toss, but it was a difficult pitch to bat on. Tamim and Shakib were brilliant.”
“Although we lost a bunch of wickets in the middle, our lower-order batsmen added 45 runs. Good thing is that they are working with the coaches. Fizz has been practicing with the bat, and it paid off for him,” Mashrafe said.
Zimbabwe skipper Graeme Cremer said: “Difficult surface here, all of them look similar, but they all played different. Toss wasn’t too crucial.”
“We were pleased with the 216 we restricted them in. But our batting was bad,” he said, “I thought we gave Bangladesh some soft wickets. It’s always tough to recover after a few early wickets. We’ve enjoyed the tri-series so far. We’ve brought some youngsters like Muzarabani.”
