Police recovered body of a boy from the swimming pool of Silver Shine Hotel at Holiday crossing under the district town on Monday noon.
The deceased was identified as Sagor, 14, son of Bedar Alam, a guard at Cox’s Bazar KG School and resident of Jhautala Garir Math of the town. He was a student of Class VII at the said school.
Omar Faruque Mintu, a resident of Jhautala area, said after finding him floating in the swimming pool, Principal of the KG School Ramjan Ali and locals rushed him to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital where doctor on duty declared him dead. On information, police recovered the body and sent it to morgue for an autopsy.
The victim’s relatives claimed that someone of the hotel killed Sagor in a planned way and dumped the body at the pool. But, the hotel authority denied the allegation and said the boy himself drowned in the pool.
Meanwhile, agitated locals besieged the hotel accusing the authority of killing Sagor in a planned way. The hotel authority tried to cover up the matter.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Cox’s Bazar Sadar Model Police Station Aslam Hossen said that they are investigating the matter.
