A teenage boy was killed as another boy hit him with a cricket stump during a cricket match in the city on Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Faisal, 15, a betel leaf vendor and son of Shahjahan of Marichayapara of Madarbari in the port city. Officer-in-charge of Sadarghat Police Station Marzina Akhter said a group of boys of Marichayapara and
adjacent areas were playing a cricket match at Chittagong Collegiate School and College ground in Madarbari area in the afternoon. Faisal had an altercation with another boy around 5:45 pm over fixing cricket stumps during the game. At one stage, the boy hit Faisal with a stump, leaving him injured.
He was taken to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) where doctors declared him dead, said inspector of CMCH police camp Jahirul Islam.
