A boy was killed and his father injured when a thunderbolt struck them at Madhabpur village in Mohammadpur upazila on Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Jamirul Sheikh, 13, while the injured was Nawab Ali, 50, father of the victim of the village.
Officer-in-charge of Mohammadpur Police Station Monirul Sheikh said a streak of lightning struck Jamirul and his father when they were cutting grass in a field at noon, leaving Jamirul dead on the spot and his father Nawab Ali injured critically.
Nawab Ali was admitted to Mohammadpur Upazila Health Complex.
