UNB, Keraniganj :
A minor boy was drowned allegedly by another boy at Pargendaria Kanapatti under South Keraniganj Police Station on Thursday afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Farhad Hossain, 11, a Class-IV student of Pargendaria Government Primary School.
Locals said Farhad along some other boys, including Shamim Hossain, 14, went to take their bath in a waterlogged field. On a stage, Shamim locked into an altercation with Farhad.
Following the altercation, Shamim allegedly drowned him under water whereby he lost his senses. Later, locals rescued Farhad and took him to Sir Salimulah Medical College and Mitford Hospital in the capital where doctors declared him dead.
Monirul Islam, officer-in-charge of Keraniganj Police Station, said they recovered the body and sent it to hospital morgue.
He also said police detained Shahim and his mother for interrogation in this connection.
