A student of class nine committed suicide as he failed to get a smart phone from his poor parents.
An UD case was filed on Thursday. The deceased was identified as Rana Miah, 15, son of day labourer Nasir Uddin of village Chandrakhana under Phulbari upazila in Kurigram and also a student of class nine of Phulbari Adarsha High School.
Locals and police sources said the boy was claiming for a smart phone from his parent for long but his father has no ability due to poverty. Consequently, he committed suicide with the ceiling of his bed room at dead of night on Wednesday.
Officer-in-charge of Phulbari police station Rajib Kumar Roy ensured the incident. An unnatural death case was lodged with police.
