Bourses getting momentum

Stocks extended gaining streak for another session on Wednesday with surpass of key index of premier bourse Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) 4800-mark again, as investors continued their appetite for sector-wise issues.
At DSE, the broad index, DSEX settled at 4827.57 points on Wednesday with a gain of 46.00 points or 0.96 percent.
Besides, two selective indices, Blue Chip index, DSE30 and Shariah index, DSES also went up by 18.51 points and 12.32 points to settle at 1679.05 points and 1126.13 points respectively.
On the DSE trading floor, a total number of 178,622 trades were executed in Wednesday’s trading session with a trading volume of 237.43 million securities.
On the other hand, DSE’s turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, stood at Taka 7.83 billion from Taka 7.29 billion in the previous session.
Gainers took lead over losers as out of 358 issues traded, 198 securities gained price while 107 declined and 63 remained unchanged. The market-cap of DSE increased to 3,674 billion which was Taka 3,631 billion in the previous session.
The top 10 gainers were Desh Garments, United Insurance, Samata Leather, CAPM BDBL Mutual Fund, Expresses Insurance, Pioneer Insurance, Republic Insurance, VAML BD Mutual Fund-1, Peoples Insurance and CAPM IBBL Mutual Fund.
Beximco Limited topped the turnover chart followed by Beximco Pharma, Square Pharma, Orion Pharma, Singer BD, BATBC, Grameenphone, LafargeHolcim Bangladesh, Express Insurance and IFIC.
The top ten losers were SAFCO Spinning, Salvo Chemicals, Jute Spinning, CNA Tex, Savar Refractroies, Dulamia Cotton, Aramit Cement, Intech Limited, Beacon Pharma and IFIC.
