Bourses end green ahead of budget

Country’s both the bourses, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) on Wednesday closed trading in green a day before announcement of the national budget amid COVID-19 outbreak.
At DSE, the broad index, DSEX settled at 3966.75 points on the day with a gain of 4.37 points or 0.11 percent. Besides, the two selective indices, Blue Chip index, DSE30 and Shariah index, DSES also went up marginally by 3.15 points and 1.50 points to settle at 1332.31 points and 919.29 points respectively.
On the DSE trading floor, a total number of 12,512 trades were executed in the day’s trading session with a trading volume of 21.88 million securities.
Market turnover, another crucial indicator, stood at Taka 594 million which is lower than of previous day’s Taka 677 million.
Gainers took a lead over losers as out of 275 issues traded, 24 securities gained price while 15 declined and 235 remained unchanged. The market-cap of DSE rose slightly to Taka 3,105 billion, from Taka 3,102 billion in the previous session.
The top 10 gainers were Beximco Pharma, Power Grid, Phoenix Finance First Mutual Fund, Beximco Limited, ACME Lab, Central Pharma, Shahzibazar power, Reckitt Benckiser, Exim Bank and Indo-Bangla Pharma.
Beximco Pharma topped the turnover chart followed by GlaxoSmithKline, Beximco Limited, Meghna Petroleum, Central Pharma, Orion Pharma, Square Pharma, Indo-Bangla Pharma, Grameenphone and Exim Bank.
