Bourses end flat

Country’s bourses closed in flat note on Tuesday amid choppy trading as the investors were active on both the sides of the trading fence throughout the session.
The market’s session started positively and closed in the same style, but observed volatility in the middle of the session.
At Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), the broad index, DSEX closed in green at 4949.63 points with a marginal gain of 1.75 points or 0.03 percent from the previous day.
In addition, the two selective indices, DSE30 declined slightly by 0.21 points while DSES increased by 1.51 points to stand at 1759.75 points and 1140.21 points respectively.
On the DSE trading floor, a total number of 100,234 trades were executed in yesterday’s trading session with a trading volume of 105.10 million securities.
Gainers took a moderate lead over the losers as out of 352 issues traded, 183 securities gained price while 113 declined and 56 remained unchanged.
The day’s turnover stood at Taka 3.04 billion which is 49% lower than last day’s session.
Sector wise performance exposed that it (2.2%), textile (1.9%) and ceramic (1.2%) experienced highest price appreciation while general insurance (-1.2%), jute (-1.0%) and telecom (-0.9%) sectors experienced highest price correction in Tuesday’s session.
Engineering, pharma and general insurance sectors topped the turnover by contributing 14.5%, 14.1% and 12.3% respectively, according to the EBL Securities.
The top ten gainers were Miracle Industries, CAPM IBBL Mutual Fund, CAPM BDBL Mutual Fund, JMI Syringe, Shepherd Industries, Monno Ceramics, Monno Stafflers, Premier Cement, Nurani Dying and Dragon Sweater.
