Bourses end a bit higher

Country’s premier bourse, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), ended on Sunday a bit higher following the buying appetite demonstrated by some investors on sector-wise shares.
The broad index, DSEX closed at 4712.08 points with a sharp gain of 29.18 points or 0.62 percent.
Besides, the two selective indices, DSE30 also went up by 10.60 points while the Shariah index, DSES increased by 7.69 points to settle at 1638.35 points and 1083.17 points respectively.
However, the turnover, another important indicator of the market, stood at Taka 3.25 billion, which was 20 percent lower than the previous day’s one-month highest turnover of Taka 4.05 billion.
On the DSE trading floor, a total number of 117,458 trades were executed in today’s trading session with a trading volume of 116.88 million securities.
Gainers took a strong lead over the losers as out of 352 issues traded, 190 securities gained price while 123 declined and 39 remained unchanged.
The top 10 gainers were Hakkani Pulp, Zaheen Spinning, Apollo Ishpat, Golden Harvest, Central Pharma, Premier Leasing, Mercantile Insurance, Aamra Net, Safko Spinning and RSRM Steel.
National Tubes topped the turnover chart followed by Northern Jute, Sonarbangla Insurance, Shurwid Industries, Stylecraft, Fortune Shoes, Pharma Aid, Monno Stafflers and Premier Bank.
The top 10 losers were First Finance, Meghna Petroleum, Northern Jute, Standard Ceramics, Meghna Condensed Milk, Legacy Footwear, Stylecraft, Emerald Oil, Monno Stafflers and JMI Syringe.
