Bourses decline after five sessions

Country’s premier bourse, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) on Monday closed with downbeat from the gaining streak of last five consecutive sessions.
The broad index, DSEX closed at 4734.59 points on Monday with a loss of 24.21 points or 0.50 percent.
Besides, the two selective indices, Blue Chip index, DSE30 and the Shariah index, DSES also went down by 15.78 points and 9.87 points to settle at 1629.04 points and 1067.75 points respectively.
On the DSE trading floor, a total number of 137,833 trades were executed in today’s trading session with a trading volume of 228.59 million securities.
Loser took a strong lead over the gainers as out of 346 issues traded, 124 securities gained price while 194 declined and 28 remained unchanged.
The top 10 gainers were Islami Bank, Paramount Insurance, Daffodil Computers, Al Arafah Islami Bank, Stylecraft, Silco Pharma, Wata Chemical, Family Tex, Rupali Life Insurance and Prime Insurance.
LafargeHolcim Bangladesh topped the turnover chart followed by Premier Bank, Paramount Insurance, IFIC Bank, Square Pharma, Dutch-Bangla Bank, Fortune Shoes, National Tubes, Exim Bank and City Bank.
The top 10 losers were Makson Spinning, Deshbondhu Polymer, Selvo Chemical, Premier Leasing, Meghna Petroleum, LafargeHolcim Bangladesh, Metro Spinning, Legacy Footwear, First Finance and Fareast Knitting. On the other hand, the port city bourse, Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed at red from the winning streak of the previous day.
CSCX and CASPI declined up by 31.59 points and 48.11 points to stand at 8750.51 points and 14412.57 points respectively.
At CSE, a total of 11,641,567 shares and mutual fund of 241 companies were traded, of which 93 issues advanced while 122 declined and 26 issues remained unchanged.
