Teachers, officials and employees of Bangladesh Open University (BOU) paid rich tributes to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in Tungipara on Tuesday marking Mujib Barsho and golden jubilee of country’s independence.
Around 700 teachers, officials and employees led by BOU Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Syed Humayun Akhter placed wreaths at Bangabandhu’s grave at Tungipara in Gopalganj, said a press release.
Fateha and special prayers were also offered seeking eternal peace of the departed souls of Bangabandhu and his family members who embraced martyrdom on August 15, 1975. They also prayed for long and healthy life of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
From now on, BOU will pay homage to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman every year declaring it as a “Calendar Event” of the university, said the press release.
Pro-VC (administration) Prof Dr Nasim Banu, Pro-VC (Education) Dr Mahbuba Nasreen, Treasurer Prof Mostafa Azad Kamal and Registrar Dr Md Shafiqul Alam were also present on the occasion.
